Toby is a psychological horror short film that explores the terrifying consequences of an imaginary friend who may be far more real than anyone believes.
Eight-year-old Lily appears to be an ordinary child—quiet, creative, and often found talking to her best friend, Toby. The problem is that nobody else can see him. While her parents dismiss Toby as a harmless childhood fantasy, Lily’s behavior begins to change in unsettling ways. She starts breaking rules, harming animals, and revealing knowledge she shouldn’t possess. Each time she’s questioned, she gives the same explanation:
“Toby told me to.”
As the incidents become increasingly disturbing, Lily’s family struggles to determine whether they are witnessing a child’s imagination spiraling out of control or something far more sinister. Strange occurrences plague their home, whispers echo through empty rooms, and Toby’s influence over Lily grows stronger with each passing day.
Blending psychological suspense, supernatural horror, and emotional family drama, Toby examines the vulnerability of childhood innocence when confronted by an unseen evil. The film builds tension through atmosphere, dread, and uncertainty, forcing audiences to question where imagination ends and darkness begins.
Produced by Savage Barker Films, Toby delivers a haunting horror experience for fans of psychological thrillers, supernatural mysteries, and slow-burn horror. With memorable scares, unsettling imagery, and a chilling central mystery, Toby proves that some childhood friends should never be invited inside.
